It was, one presumes, meant to compete with Nikon's camera, and it well, it didn't. It was replaced one year later by the Canonflex R2000, which sold about 8800 examples before Canon called it a day. The later FD system, including the pro F1, did a lot better but this R2000 is a very cool look at what might have been. It has a streamlined, removable
